The best games of 2015 (Part 2)

A handful of games released in 2015 made a lasting impression and celebrated their 10th anniversary. It was a particularly busy year in terms of major releases, and some have stood the test of time without losing their luster. We have therefore decided to split our selection of the best productions of 2015 into two articles. Last week, we published the first part on the matter. Now it's time for the second part. Ready to feel old yet?

Let's start our selection with the remastered version of a very popular franchise, namely God of War III Remastered. Here we find a much bloodier Kratos seeking revenge, a far cry from the protective and calmer father we see in the more recent entries. Here, we emerge from the depths of Hell with Mount Olympus as our goal, in order to unleash our rage on the gods who betrayed us.

The year 2015 also saw the release of some popular games that propelled their franchises to success. Here we find the platformer Ori and the Blind Forest, Divinity: Original Sin and the excellent Dying Light. The latter was a huge commercial success, which led to a second installment several years later, and even a stand-alone version released just a few weeks ago. We can also mention Helldivers Dive Harder Edition, which will see a second installment in 2024 that is widely appreciated by the gaming community.

Online multiplayer is not to be outdone in 2015, with two free-to-play titles. Trove, although it has become very low-key in recent years, continues to appeal to its loyal audience. Rainbow 6 Siege X, freshly renamed following the 10th anniversary of the game, continues to thrill tens of thousands of loyal players every day.

Let's now turn our attention to some slightly different productions. Life Is Strange, a narrative game with multiple branches, also celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. In a similar genre, Until Dawn, a highly acclaimed PlayStation exclusive, is also worth mentioning. The famous management game Cities: Skylines also appeared in 2015 and is therefore celebrating the same number of candles. Marketed at the time as a modern version of the classic city simulation, the title introduces the management of a real city, while developing its construction.

To end on a high note, we are going back to action-adventure games. The excellent Batman Arkham Knight is one of the great releases of 2015, along with Rise of the Tomb Raider, which was temporarily exclusive to Xbox One at the time of release. Fallout 4 is also coming out this year, putting us in the shoes of the sole survivor of Vault 111. We emerge into a world devastated by nuclear war, and our survival will be a constant struggle. Finally, we mention Xenoblade Chronicles X. Initially released on Wii U, a definitive version for Nintendo Switch was released a few months ago, enriching the experience with additional content and story elements.

This concludes our two selections of the best games of 2015. Whether they are narrative masterpieces, technical revolutions, or simply memorable experiences, each of them has left a lasting mark on fams and the industry.
