The horror games you don't want to miss in 2026

This past few weeks, the Halloween spirit has completely taken over our screens through movies, video games, and even the Steam sales period. We've had the opportunity to explore several selections of horror titles of all kinds already out. Now it's time to put away the pumpkins and costumes and look to the future. What terrifying projects await us in 2026? Get ready, because next year could be just as chilling...

Let's start our list with some big names. Saber Interactive, best known for its off-road driving simulation games (Snowrunner, Roadcraft, etc.), has made two very interesting announcements for 2026. First up is Jurassic Park Survival, in which players take on the role of Dr. Maya Joshi on Isla Nublar the day after the tragic events of 1993. She must survive the dinosaurs and the many threats present on the island. The studio has also announced Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival, a horror title that promises to take first-person action-horror games to the next level. The images already revealed suggest something particularly bloody.

Announced back in 2024, Director 8020 caused then quite a stir because of its delay. The latest game by the devs of The Dark Pictures Anthology franchise showcases what they're best known for: multiple-choice storytelling. Players will be able to rewrite their destiny and change the course of history thanks to the new branching storyline, as well as unlock hidden paths. A multiplayer title simply titled Halloween will also be released next year, transporting players to that infamous night in 1978 when no one was safe from Michael Myers.

Smaller productions include DreadOut 3, inspired by an Indonesian urban legend, and Broken Veil. The latter is a puzzle platformer set in a Russian province, in which a young boy searches for the person most important to him: his mother.

For more original projects, let's turn our attention to SOS Forgotten Planet and No Vacation for an Executioner. These two titles, despite their long names, offer an interesting experience, the former in 3D pixel style and the latter in retro PS2 grayscale. Reanimal is a project whose artistic direction is similar to that of Little Nightmares. Finally, Liminal Point is a psychological horror game that pays homage to the classics of the genre while offering a modern and chilling experience. Here, the focus is on the return of an isometric perspective, somewhat forgotten in recent games of this genre.

Let's finish our list with two very different but highly anticipated projects in the horror genre. Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth installment in the famous saga, is expected on February 27. Scarier than ever, this episode, about which we don't yet know everything, promises to be a major step in the future of the franchise. Finally, Beautiful Light is an online shooter and extraction game available at the end of 2026, steeped in a horrific atmosphere. While the primary goal is not to scare players, be careful not to be taken by surprise by everything lurking in the woods...

That concludes our article on the best horror titles to play in 2026. However, we can't rule out other projects being announced, while others may be delayed. In any case, it's certain that many of them will probably end up in our game library. Check out our complete selection below with the trailers!
